EFQUEL’s latest activities

ECBCheck certification ceremony

ECBCheck call for submissions to next review round
After the finalisation of the 2012 review round, in which ECBCheck certified 9 international courses, a new submission round is now open for new applicants.  ECBCheck welcomes training and capacity building courses that consists of an eLearning component of at least 20% within the overall course in order to be eligible for the ECBCheck quality certification.Interested course providers and international organisations can submit their application before the 31st of January in order to proceed with the self-assessment (to be completed before the 30th of March).  The application can be submitted via the application form on the ECBCheck website.

European Conference on Quality in VET – Practices and lessons learnt from successful EQAVET implementation at national level  EFQUEL invites European stakeholders in VET to participate in the “European Conference on Quality in VET – Practices and lessons learnt from successful EQAVET implementation at national level”, which will take place in Brussels on the 17th and 18th of January.This 2 day conference, organised by the EQAVET Promotion and Knowledge Managment Unit, will bring together representatives of the  national ministries and VET stakeholders (social partners, VET providers, sectoral representatives, industries VET learners and chambers).  It aims to offer an overview of the results of the work of the EQAVET projects, discuss the main challenges and the needs for the further development of EQAVET. EFQUEL Innovation Forum, save the date!The next EFQUEL Innovation Forum, taking place on the 26th and 27th of September 2013 in Barcelona, will be a unique opportunity to meet other experts from Europe and other regions of the world. As part of EFQUEL’s core mission to provide services for quality development in education, next year conference in Barcelona will focus explicitly on quality issues, taking stock of where we stand now, how the quality scene has evolved and what the future perspectives are and could be. News and updates will be available on the EIF2013 website.The Call for Papers will be published in January.

VISCED webinar on Virtual Schools and Colleges
The VISCED Partnership organised a 60 minute webinar on the main outputs of the VISCED Project.  The webinar took place on 10 December 2012 to which 44 participants from 17 different countries took part. EFQUEL Responds to the EC’s “Opening Up Education” consultation
EFQUEL has published its position paper in response to the European Commission’s public consultation on opening up education. The proposal for a European Initiative is a proposal to exploit the potential contribution of ICTs and Open Educational Resources (OER) to education and skills development.In its response, EFQUEL commented that it finds the principles behind the consultation to be highly laudable, and finds much to applaud in the overall consultation document, particularly the strong focus on quality and the principle that learning materials developed with public money should be publicly accessible. R&D at UOC, a report from Tony Bates: In a series of articles, Tony Bates, keynote speaker at this year’s EFQUEL Innovation Forum, reports about the research activities in different e-Learning centers he visited in Europe.  In a first report he takes a closer look to UOC’s eLearn center, of which EFQUEL’s vice-president Albert Sangra is director.

9 Training courses certified by ECBCheckOn the 29th of November the official 2012 ECBCheck ceremony was organised for awarding successful technology enhanced training programmes and courses. 9 courses were certified. Read more

UNIQUe reviewers selected
EFQUEL has published the list of newsly selected UNIQUe reviewers on the UNIQUe website.  For all future incoming requests, EFQUEL will select 3 experts from this list to visit the applicant institution.  A next selection round to complete the pool of reviewers, is planned in the course of 2013.UNIQUe new website
